Scaling up the integrated approach to organizational Capacity Assessment for Strengthening selected partners of Save the Children in Bangladesh

The assignment aimed to support SCI in strengthening its partnership base in Bangladesh. A three (3) member team of Harmony extended the technical assistance to SCiBD from May to November 2016. Dhaka and Chattogram was the project location. Using SCiBD’s standard procedure of IAOCA, the assignment supported Organizational Capacity Assessment and Capacity Strengthening Planning of three (3) strategic partners of SCiBD, i.e., Center for Natural Resource Studies (CNRS), Community Development Centre (CODEC), and MSS Manabik Shahajya Sangstha (MSS). The project also supported the capacity development of relevant staff and departments at Save the Children, through joint planning and implementation of the activities and through the formulation and hand-over of standard tools and models.

Another major component of the project was to support twelve (12) strategic partners of SCiBD in strengthening the capacities to execute, monitor, and evaluate the capacity strengthening plans within the respective organizations. Based on Desk Research, Interview, and National Level Workshop, the process accumulated the lessons of the OD teams drawn from their achievements and challenges in performing the role of ‘Change Agents’ within respective organizations. The workshop also determined the strategies and scope for enhancing cooperation among the strategic partners as peers in Organizational Capacity Strengthening towards an improved situation for the children in Bangladesh. The process involved the internal OD teams and senior management of RDRS Bangladesh, VERC, BEES, BITA, BTS, DNS, DORP, MMS, PSKS, PRODIPAN, SEEP, and SUF.
