Developing a model for Organizational System Strengthening Initiative (OSSI) for member agency of Start Fund Bangladesh (SFB)

August 23, 2022

Start Fund Bangladesh (SFB) is an NGO-managed rapid emergency response pool fund established by the Start Network with support from UKAID. The project facilitated the capacity enhancement of six (6) member organizations of SFB, i.e., MJSKS, Jago Nari, NSS, AVAS, BNKS, and ASHIKA. Action Against Hunger, the hosting organization of SFB Secretariate commissioned, and a two (2) member team of Harmony delivered the project from December 2019 to March 2020 in five (5)districts, i.e., Bandarban, Barisal, Barguna, Kurigram, and Rangamati.

The major components of the project were the development of the most appropriate approach and framework for Organizational System Strengthening of the member NGOs; supporting the individual members to formulate realistic System Strengthening Plans of their own based on analysis of prioritized needs (through the determination of the factors restricting desired performance standard), internal ability, and willingness for changes & the external commitments to support the change process; and development of a plan for SFB to support the members in the implementation of respective System Strengthening Plans and in tracking progress comparing to the targets planned.
