Dhaka, 22 July 2026 – Harmony Trust proudly conducted a specialized training session at the “Workshop on Enhancing Excellence in Dementia Care for Older Adults,” organized jointly by the Bangladesh Geriatric Nurses Society (BGNS) and the Japan Bangladesh Friendship Nursing College (JBFNC).
The event brought together over 100 healthcare professionals, nursing educators, caregivers, and institutional leaders, all united by a shared goal: to elevate the standard of holistic care for older adults living with dementia.

The interactive workshop was expertly facilitated by Syeda Shahida Sultana Elora, Head of Health Care Programs at Harmony Trust. She delivered a hands-on demonstration on the application of Therapeutic Yoga and Hand Reflexology specifically adapted for dementia care. Participants engaged in practical learning of safe, evidence-informed complementary techniques.
The session underscored how these non-pharmacological interventions can profoundly support multiple facets of dementia care, including:
- Enhancing cognitive wellbeing and mental clarity.
- Regulating emotions and reducing agitation.
- Improving physical mobility and relaxation.
- Alleviating caregiver stress and burnout.
- Promoting overall healthy ageing.
Through guided practice and open discussion, participants explored actionable strategies to seamlessly integrate these complementary therapies into their existing person-centred care frameworks, bridging the gap between conventional medicine and holistic wellness.

Harmony Trust extends its sincere appreciation to the Bangladesh Geriatric Nurses Society (BGNS) and the Japan Bangladesh Friendship Nursing College (JBFNC) for their collaborative efforts. We also thank the distinguished guests and every participant whose enthusiastic engagement and commitment made this session a resounding success.
This initiative reaffirms Harmony Trust’s unwavering dedication to advancing elderly care in Bangladesh. We remain steadfast in our mission to promote evidence-informed complementary healthcare through professional education, continuous training, and active community engagement—ensuring a healthier, more dignified future for our ageing population.
